Principle of Optical Modulators in Fiber Optic Systems

Optical modulators are used in optical communication systems to encode data onto light waves for transmission through optical fibers. The beam may be carried over free space, or propagated through an optical waveguide (optical fibre). Fibers consist of three primary components: the core, cladding, and coating. ptic fibres provide a far higher bandwidth. Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) is a digital modulation technique that represents binary data by shifting the amplitude of a carrier wave among discrete levels. Light itself is a single waveform and cannot directly carry complex information.
